If you are a European ham, ask yourself this: how often does Gabon or India casually slide into your radio when you broadcast CQ? Better yet, try reaching them on a rig that pulls a microscopic 600 mA at 12 volts. The answer? Gigahertz, my friends.
Granted, it’s a bit of a cheat code since we are piggybacking on a geostationary satellite, but you can't deny the sheer charm of it 😎. Behold, a snapshot of my WSJT window from this morning—knocked out a few DXCC contacts in 15 minutes before rolling into work.
A small thrill, but a thrill nonetheless. Honestly, I’m an electrician. Power lines, substations, relay protection and automation - that’s my bread and butter. It’s a brutal gig: scorching heat, freezing cold, trenches, and ditches. But what really grinds my gears is when debris from Shahed drones starts raining down on my head. I mean, who doesn’t know where the flap servo is on a jet-powered Shahed by now? My eyes are closed in the photo because I was swearing like a sailor, and then I felt bad about it 😉
